The records alternate between Hans Praetterhoffer, Hans Prätterhoffer and Hans Praetterhofer. This archive uses Hans Praetterhoffer, while retaining each source’s spelling in titles and notes.
Artothek Niederösterreich dates the City of Vienna Förderungspreis to 1972; Wien Geschichte Wiki records it in 1978. The conflict is unresolved and should be cited with the relevant source.
Institutional catalogues and contemporary documents are the strongest evidence here. Dynamic databases are useful research leads, but their spelling, dates and record counts can change.

Collection catalogues, archival descriptions and government documentation.
The search currently returns 23 object records spanning 1970–2011. It acts as a discovery index for catalogues, invitations, press clippings and exhibition files, including Stereo-3D-Graphik (1971), Land-Striche – Strich-Menschen (1975), the 1982 Römerquelle competition, an artist publication from 1983, Quartett komplett (1986) and the 2011 MUSA catalogue.
Use: Best used as an index: follow the individual records for holdings, dates and fuller descriptions.

An artist-attributed folder held in St. Pölten (shelfmark KK.PRA.1774.1). It gathers invitations, reviews and notices from 1971–1984, among them Johann Muschik’s Kurier review “Männlein und Weltenbrand” (19 July 1971), the 1976 atelier presentation of light drawings, the Arbeiter-Zeitung notice “Praetterhoffer gewann Römerquelle-Bewerb” (13 April 1982), and solo presentations in Vienna, Salzburg and Linz. Retrieving the two press items from the folder would add independent contemporary reviews to this archive.
Use: A strong source for reconstructing the early exhibition chronology and contemporary reception. Reproductions can be requested from the Landessammlungen Niederösterreich (noe-repro@noel.gv.at); the Arbeiter-Zeitung issue of 13 April 1982 is also available in the AZ digital archive.

The German–English catalogue, edited by Berthold Ecker and Wolfgang Hilger, surveys the 1960s through the City of Vienna collection and names Hans Praetterhoffer among the represented artists. It is linked to the MUSA exhibition held from 29 March to 15 October 2011.
Use: Evidence of inclusion in a broad historical survey; the record does not indicate a dedicated Praetterhoffer essay.

The federal art report lists the acquisition of Praetterhoffer’s mixed-media work Konzert for 14,400 Austrian schillings. A later funding table contains two further entries under his name, for 7,000 and 5,000 schillings.
Use: Direct government documentation of a federal acquisition and support activity in 1975.

The Albertina catalogue identifies Praetterhoffer as Vienna 1943–2014 and returns 13 works. These include six Space Tug sheets from 1969, two Jörgs Garten variations (1970), Landschaft farbig (1971), Inkakaiser (1976), Gebeugte Figur (1978), Weltgegenden (1982) and the undated Magische Erscheinung zwischen Bäumen.
Use: Authoritative evidence of holdings, titles and collection dates; most images are unavailable or restricted online.

The Academy’s archival record preserves both surname forms, gives the old matriculation number 6616, and links Praetterhoffer as a student to Rudolf Hausner and Sergius Pauser. It also cross-references the 1990 exhibition Gustav Christian / Hans Praetterhoffer – Unser Licht und die Typen.
Use: Useful institutional evidence for Academy affiliation; the underlying file requires archive permission and is not physically available through the public record.

The Artothek record gives the life dates 1943–2014, private study with Gerhard Swoboda, Academy training in Sergius Pauser’s master class from 1965–1969, and guest study in screen-printing and reproduction techniques in 1970. It lists awards from the City of Vienna (1972), Bayer AG (1974), the Theodor Körner Foundation (1978) and first prize in the Römerquelle competition (1982).
Use: A concise institutional biography. Its 1972 date for the City of Vienna award conflicts with the 1978 date in Wien Geschichte Wiki.

The submitted URL currently resolves to seven library records associated with Robert Schmitt, not Hans Praetterhoffer. A separate current collection search lists twelve Praetterhoffer works—four graphic works and eight paintings—dated from 1973 to 1986. The individual object records carry permanent-collection credit lines: four works purchased in 1982, three purchased in 1986, and five donated in 1987 (verified 14 July 2026). The biography printed in Lang/Art/News (Galerie Lang, November 1993) records „1985 Übernahme einer umfangreichen Werkgruppe in das Rupertinum Salzburg“; the museum’s records do not show a 1985 acquisition date, so both datings are preserved here side by side.
Use: Do not use the submitted filter as evidence for Praetterhoffer until its person identifier is corrected.

The Lentos online collection documents five works on paper under the holding “Neue Galerie der Stadt Linz – Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz” (inventory nos. G 6228, G 7769, G 7776, G 7906, G 8100). They include an untitled pen-and-ink drawing accessioned in April 1993 and the 1971 colour screen print “Kriechkuppeln” und “Linien” from the stereoscopic Waldviertel series, accessioned in September 2004.
Use: Museum-database confirmation of the Neue Galerie Linz holding previously known only from the estate’s records; it also independently corroborates the early-1970s stereoscopic work. Verified 14 July 2026.

The municipal person record gives 11 September 1943 and 29 June 2014 as the birth and death dates, both in Vienna, and describes Praetterhoffer as a painter and draughtsman. It adds GND and Wikidata identifiers, burial details for Ottakringer Friedhof, and records both the City of Vienna and Theodor Körner promotion prizes in 1978.
Use: Authoritative for civil and cemetery data; its City of Vienna award year conflicts with Artothek Niederösterreich.

Reference articles and contemporary reporting that place the artist in exhibitions and cultural history.
The article describes eighteen Römerquelle-sponsored competitions between 1979 and 2001. It names Hans Prätterhoffer for the second competition in 1982 and again in a 1992 presentation of prizewinners.
Use: A useful overview, but its Praetterhoffer citations point back to an older artist website. The 1982 first prize is more firmly supported by Artothek and the BASIS archival folder.

The report covers a Braunau exhibition of works by Praetterhoffer and Josef Karl Nerud. Praetterhoffer’s works came from a private collection; the article characterises his figures as expressionist and his landscapes as engagements with legends, including Barbarossa in the Untersberg.
Use: A useful late exhibition reference and a source for the works’ subject matter. The article’s biographical aside about a family connection to the Braunau region is not relied on: the artist met and lived with his wife in Vienna, and the estate regards that aside as the gallery’s editorial framing.

The page announces a Palais Liechtenstein, Feldkirch exhibition with Wolfgang Böhm, Johann Jascha, Heinz Günther Leitner, Hans Prätterhoffer and Reimo Wukounig. It opened on 1 April 1980 and ran through 27 April. A calendar note identifies the group with the Künstler-Selbstvertretung founded in 1976.
Use: A strong contemporary source for the exact participants, venue and dates of the Feldkirch group exhibition.
